Important Changes to the NSSS
In order to provide the best possible service, InfoMart has recently updated our National Social Security Search to assist you in finding even more addresses and alias names. The information comes from a number of sources including credit records, change of address forms, and other postal-related databases. This search is to be used as an investigative tool to locate additional addresses and names that an applicant might not have otherwise disclosed on their application. InfoMart clients who use an NSSS, combined with their criminal record search, find 18% more criminal records than clients who do not utilize the NSSS service.
Since the new NSSS utilizes a wide variety of data sources, the service can not be used in an employment making decision. Using the NSSS alone to make a hiring decision would be a violation of many federal, state, and local laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C.A. 1681 et. seq.).
InfoMart recommends using an NSSS to verify information supplied by the applicant and to identify additional names and addresses. Data from the NSSS can be used in combination with other verifiable data sources such as a criminal history search, previous employment or education verification.
If you have questions about the updated NSSS service, contact an InfoMart Customer Service Representative at 770-984-2727 ext. 1222 or customerservice@infomart-usa.com. Should you need to verify the social security number for an applicant's eligibility, please contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213.
